China has erupted in protest after an apartment fire in the city of Urumqi killed 10 people and injured 9 others. Residents were unable to escape due to the continuing quarantines imposed by the Chinese government’s impossible quest for zero COVID. No amount of effort can completely eliminate all traces of a contagious respiratory virus from a society of over 1 billion people. But that hasn’t stopped the Chinese government from trying, using the harshest methods possible. Free the People creative director Sam Martin explains why we should never sacrifice liberty for safety in this episode of Freedom Over Fear.
