After a few failed attempts, we finally managed to make a reservation to take a boat ride on Lake Powell in the Navajo Canyon.

Departure is from Antelope Point Marina which is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. A fee is charged to enter this park.

We left our vehicle in the Visitor Center parking lot and boarded a golf cart to drive to the marina.

From there, we boarded a houseboat and sailed for two hours on the calm waters of Lake Powell in the Navajo Canyon area.

The sandstone cliffs, which rise 600 feet around us, are truly impressive. They have different shapes as well as different color layers. The erosion has created a beautiful landscape.

It's nice to see these rocks from water level.

Some sandstone walls of the cliffs are covered with a black layer due to manganese oxides. This layer is called desert varnish or Navajo tapestry.
