The Best quick Review of The Ferrari 296 GTB

The Ferrari 296 GTB is a luxurious sports car that looks like a mix of 3 Ferrari's put together. It has an epic blend of Ferrari's past and present design. As with most things in life, if you don't evolve you die. And this is Ferraris first attempt at evolving. There is also the 296 GTS (spider) which is about 20% more expensive.

The Engine HP is about 820hp (650 from the petrol engine and about 170hm from the electric engine) all on the rear wheels, and torque is 740 newton meters. You can do up to 25 Km on the electric motor with this car and when you're in petrol mode, you can recharge your electric motor.

The wide V-angle for the engine means that the car has a much lower center of gravity, which makes it easier to handle and allows for bigger turbochargers and exhaust manifolds. Additionally, the V-angle also contributes to improved heat dissipation, practically eliminating the possibility of overheating. The mounting of the turbochargers on top of the engine – in the “hot V” – allows for an extremely simplified exhaust system due to it featuring fewer curves and less piping. The free exhaust flow, in turn, increases efficiency and performance.

An engine is only as excellent as the gearbox permits it to be, similar to the adage "A car is only as good as its driver." Fortunately, the Ferrari 296 GTB's outstanding V-6 is paired with an incredibly quick eight-speed double-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, it has an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, which adds to the astounding performance numbers.

The only thing that I found to be slightly annoying is the fact all the digital controls and system of the car is made from the steering wheel. Many of these controls are touch-only, and occasionally they aren't lighted, so it's not the most elegant solution possible. On the steering wheel, there are two control switches that affect how the car behaves. The one on the right is the traditional manatino (means "little switch"), you can choose between wet, normal, race, and everything off. The other switch is the emanatino, which affects how the electric drivetrain behaves. The steering has two dials that you can set it on WET or SPORT RACE. On the other side, you have the option to start in electric drive, Hybrid is the default mode, and Sport gives you the fastest lap time. Ferrari did not equip the 296GTB with any driver-assistance technology since it is a vehicle that is meant to be driven. However, it does include a backup camera and airbags.

Do I like driving a 296-gtb super hyper car? It's great, as it allows drivers to remain inconspicuous when roaming around. It's no understatement to say that this car is incredibly important for Ferrari, as it pushes the company's technical expertise to new limits. Some fans of the brand (like myself) might have feared this change as change usually means losing something we love or have grown accustomed to, but the 296 is an evolution that works better than expected. In fact, it's a car that offers the power and brutality plus the deafness of handling we expect from old school Ferraris on track with a new school approach that makes it a better more refined Ferrari than we've ever seen previously on the road.

This Ferrari is at the pinnacle of its game; it draws inspiration from the past while boldly embracing the future.

Ferrari 296 GTB Top Speed – 330kmh
0-100 km in 2.9sec
0-200 km in 7.3sec (Ferrari enzo in 10.3 sec) this makes it faster than most of its siblings, which is amazing considering the smaller engine.
