BC snowstorm: Heavy snowfall in Metro Vancouver turns commute into "gong show"

Heavy snowfall across the Metro Vancouver region on Tuesday night led to what many called a "gong show," with cars slipping and sliding on the icy roads and commuters getting stuck for hours on major routes.

The Alex Fraser Bridge was completely shut down in both directions after multiple buses and semi-trucks spun out, leaving tow trucks and snowplows with no room to get through.

BC Hydro said the winter conditions knocked out power for 50,000 British Columbians Tuesday evening.

Global's Kamil Karamali and Emily Lazatin report.
