Update June 2022 Fixing bus & Store, Children's program, Personal Makeover, I get Dirty, Testing
I haven't shared a video in a while, but I have a lot of content I need to edit and post. Here's the first installment of that content.
Part 1: I take a shortcut through our neighborhood to our store where I look at our construction progress on expanding our roof. Edi is helping Andre, and learning a few things about building and welding. From there, I catch a public transport minibus to the mechanic's shop where there fixed our bus. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to last long. It is difficult to shift the bus. It feels like I must negotiate a maze to find each gear. I believe it has something to do with the linkages. The mechanic fixed it to about 80% of normal, but after a short while it seems to be about as bad as before and it costed us almost $250.
When I asked the mechanic if he could improve on the fix he made, he said I needed a new transmission. I don't think that is the case, I believe it has something to do with the linkages. But, I am not a mechanic. I think they do poor quality fixes that only last a short while. I think they may have difficulties finding the right parts, so they just jerry rig something together. Sometimes their ability to make something work with pieces of trash is admirable, other times it is frustrating.
The reason I've added a large burner to our store is because we needed another burner. Plus, we don't have a large burner for a large wok. Sometimes we get orders for large portions of fried rice, and don't have the capacity to make it. I'll share an update on the stove, as this video doesn't show the conclusion. Also, I must order a 90 degree connection for the gas hose online, as the local shops don't carry it. Then I need to install a heat shield around the area so that I don't cause a fire or heat damage to the electrical outlet and wooden shutter.
Candra, who has has the most difficulty learning English did really well during his testing. He was able to recite from memory six full pages of sentences. Also, he is getting happier studying with us, which we are thankful for.
Our school year has come to an end. All we have left is some fun activities and some final testing. Next year will be better, as we always find ways to improve. We hope to obtain some science equipment such as a microscope, a telescope, beakers, and other laboratory equipment. Although we can make due, we'd like to purchase a couple more laptops, especially as we expect to add a couple more students this next year.
