Christianne van der Wal, Minister for Nature and Nitrogen Policy, presented the Dutch Nitrogen Plan in early June. This envisages a reduction in nitrogen emissions of 12 to 95 percent. This plan has caused great resentment among farmers in the Netherlands. But isn’t there much more to these supposed environmental protection measures than meets the eye?
