Grouse bird

Grouse, at first glance, this animal has a body shape that resembles a duck or duck. But this bird is a kind of water bird.

The grouse has a scientific name, namely Dendrocygna, the grouse in Indonesia has economic value, because its meat can be consumed. Due to the large demand for grouse meat in the interior of the Mahakam, East Kalimantan, the preservation of grouse is threatened.

The case of the threat to the preservation of grouse is not only in the interior of the Mahakam, East Kalimantan. Based on the LIPI biology research center and the World Agroforestry Center-ICRAF (2005), in the Lawowoi area, South Sulawesi, hundreds of grouse are caught at night and sold in restaurants in the morning.

In Indonesia there are 2 types of grouse, namely the grouse (Dendrocygna arcuata) and the grouse (Dendrocygna javanica). The striking difference between the two types is that the flower grouse has characteristics with brownish fur and is slightly larger in size.

While the stone grouse has reddish brown fur color, there is no black and white color on the outer feathers, it is also smaller than the flower grouse.
