Ukrainian soldiers serving in the country's eastern Donbas have received winter clothing and sleeping bags as temperatures have started falling below 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).

Soldiers that spend the night in barracks in an undisclosed location in the eastern region said on Wednesday (November 30) that their units' command is handing out winter jackets, boots, sleeping bags and other weatherproof equipment.

"Here is a 'pixel' (ed's note: Ukrainian army camouflage) pea jacket. There is a warm detachable vest underneath, and on top there is a cover that prevents snow and rain from soaking through," 33-year-old artillery commander 'Skiff' told Reuters as he walked through the barracks.

Another serviceman, 39-year-old 'Astra,' said he already had weatherproof equipment from his previous service, adding he'd rather others receive the new winter equipment.

"I think those that need them the most should receive (the sleeping bags) that are being handed out now. I won't freeze."

Heavy rain, snow, and falling temperatures are making conditions even grimmer along the frontlines, where tens of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians are facing off as the war, now in its 10th month, grinds into winter.
