China on pace to nearly quadruple its nuclear warheads by 2035

China is on pace to expand its nuclear warhead stockpile from around 400 to 1,500 in 2035, a report released by the Pentagon said. "They've got a rapid buildup that is kind of too substantial to keep under wraps," a senior US defence official said. Pentagon's projection for China's nuclear arsenal of 1,000 warheads by 2030 remained unchanged, official added.
