Gamlan is the Balinese, Javanese, and Sundanese people's traditional ensemble music. Indonesian culture is not complete without gamelan, which frequently accompanies rites. In Javanese mythology, Sang Hyang Guru, the divinity who presided as ruler of all Java from a palace on the Maendra mountain, invented the gamelan in Saka era 167 (about AD 230). He created the gong because he needed a signal to call the gods. He created two additional gongs to convey signals with greater complexity, resulting in the first gamelan set.
