Jungle fowl is the name of a type of bird that belongs to the poultry group of the Phasianidae tribe, namely the chicken, quail, peacock and sempidan families. The jungle fowl is believed to be the ancestor of some domesticated chickens in the archipelago. This chicken is called by various names in various places, such as canghegar or cangehgar, alas chicken, ajem allas or tarattah.

This type of bird is large, the total body length (measured from the tip of the beak to the tip of the tail) is about 60 cm in males and 42 cm in females. Covering the hips in the form of long, tapered hairs golden yellow with a black center. The underside of the body is black, and the black tail is greenish shiny. Hens are smaller, tawny, with black stripes and spots.
