Sir Henry (or Harry) Platt talks to Dr R. Prosper Liston, Chairman of the BMA Film Committee, about his career spanning orthopedic and casualty surgery and reviews the progress made.

O & T (Orthopaedics and Trauma) has since the early years in the early 70’s of the UBTH constituted a recognized function functional unit within the larger department of surgery, until 1985 when it became a full fledged Department of Orthopedics headed by prof. F.A Orhewere. The department was morphed back into surgery in 1990 due to movement of most of its senior staff to greener pasture in what has been known as brain drain syndrome. The merger of the two departments was then renamed department of surgery and outhopaedics till just recently in August 2007 when the department was reinstated by UNIBEN SENATE and UBTH management committee following remarkable improvement in staff. The new department namely Orthopaedics and Traumatology was then reconstructed and dilated to accommodate 3 units namely:
A The Orthopaedics and Traumatology
B Accident and Emergency Unit (general traumatology)
C Plastic Burns and Reconstruction Unit
