Mauna Loa, the world's largest active volcano, is erupting for the first time since 1984 on Hawaii's Big Island. According to the Hawaii Volcano Observatory, the eruption began on Sunday at approximately 11:30 p.m. HST in Moku'weoweo, the summit caldera of Mauna Loa; while lava is flowing down one side of the volcano, there is no sign of a hazard to neighbouring villages at this time.
