Chapter 1 The Gospel of the Kingdom - 1.1: The Gospel
1 year ago
What is the “gospel”? The word “gospel” comes from the Greek word “euangelion” which originally denoted “a reward for good tidings”. Later, the idea of “reward” was dropped, and the word stood for “the good news” or “the good message”. 1. In our present day, the word “gospel” has incorporated many meanings in the secular world that do not proscribe to the Bible. For instance, someone might refer to policy manuals in a company that have to be taken seriously as: “the gospel” of the company. Others would use the phrase, “the gospel truth”, to emphasize the reliability of the information he or she is presenting.
