There is a supposed “missing link” fossil that was discovered that scientists believed hammered the nail into the coffin of any religion that claims a deity created the universe. Even Richard Dawkins publicly proclaimed his excitement over this discovery. But as Calvin Smith notes, like with past “missing links,” scientists eventually learned that they were sorely mistaken.
