This Beijing woman explained in one minute the essence of China’s “white-paper revolution” or “white paper movement.” Chinese authorities have blocked entrances and doors to enforce strict COVID lockdowns. During the deadly Urumqi fire on November 24, residents trapped in the building desperately cried for help to escape. But the government accused the residents for lacking the ability to run. This tragedy and the general resentment toward COVID lockdowns have triggered the “white paper movement” across China.
