The toxic attraction between the narcissist and the empath

Narcissists and empaths are a toxic combination. The relationship between narcissists and empaths tends to be highly dysfunctional due to their magnetic yet toxic attraction to one another. Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) patients are particularly drawn to empathic persons. Additionally, the fact that empaths are very sensitive individuals is one of the key factors contributing to their attraction to narcissists (HSPs). They are easy targets for manipulation since they are emotionally weak.

What transpires thereafter when these two get involved romantically? It could be wonderful, but only until things start to go wrong. Although narcissists may first seem to be cheerful, they actually have low self-esteem and ongoing insecurities that they try to mask by being manipulative and domineering toward others.
