Odell Beckham Jr. Being Thrown Off a Miami Plane Strengthens Terrell Owens Comparisons

Don't get it twisted, Odell Beckham Jr. is a supremely talented football player. His skills are the envy of every active and aspiring Wide Receiver, but where the physical gifts end; the problems begin.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Beckham was escorted by Police off a plane in Miami. The flight was destined for Los Angeles, but it was severely delayed (1 hour 30 minutes) because of a rude and belligerent NFL Free Agent. Conflicting reports suggest he was under the influence or simply a heavy sleeper, but the situation remains the same, someone with that level of skill would normally be safely under contract with a prominent team if they could keep it together between the ears.

We have seen this play out with high profile position players time and time again. Every team wants their own Terrell Owens, Randy Moss or Chad Johnson; modern marvels to the gridiron. But they are a ticking time bomb of off field issues that you have to harness to get the most out of. Even still, it's not a certainty. Larry Fitzgerald, probably the best Wide Out to never win a Championship, is a beloved figure in the game, not just in Arizona. He was a great teammate and excellent player. If OBJ wants to continue his career with any longevity, be a Larry, not a Terrell.
