LIVE: The U.S. Senate considers the controversial “Respect for Marriage Act".

In the first procedural Senate vote last week, 12 Republicans joined Democrats to pass cloture on the bill.

Since that vote, Sen. Mike Lee and a cadre of conservative Senators have urged his republican colleagues to adopt his amendment to the bill that aims to provide greater protections religious liberty before passing the final bill.
