Canada: Official welcoming ceremony for new Supreme Court Justice Michelle O'Bonsawin – November 28, 2022

The Supreme Court of Canada hosts an official welcome ceremony for its newest member, Justice Michelle O'Bonsawin. Her appointment fills the vacancy left by Justice Michael Moldaver, who retired on September 1, 2022. On that date, O'Bonsawin was sworn in as a justice of the Supreme Court in a private ceremony. She is the first Indigenous person to be nominated to Canada’s highest court. Justice O'Bonsawin and Chief Justice Richard Wagner are among the speakers at the ceremony.
