Meditation Analogy (To Understand Important Benefits of Meditation)

When on a tricky, dangerous trail you have to constantly focus on where you're placing each foot, etc. When you do that, you don't have your head up, you're not looking around, you're not appreciating the scenery, you don't exactly know where you are, you don’t know exactly where you’re headed, you can’t see the “big picture”, etc.

If we get too caught up in everyday life, we just keep looking down and don't pause or lift our head up, we miss A LOT of life and experience. And we get lost and put ourselves in danger, etc.

Meditation is sitting down on the side of the trail and zooming out and reflecting. You look around and appreciate where you are, you can see your goal in the distance, you can appreciate your progress so far, you can appreciate your overall path, you observe and are aware of your own feelings in a very practical way, your past is put in perspective, etc.

With all this new awareness and perspective, you can easily guide your life and activities to ensure that you end up where you want to end up, without sabotaging yourself along the way.
