The Kingdom of God has come (A divided kingdom, Mark 3:23-27, Matthew 12:24-30)
There is a show that comes on TV that was called “Undercover Boss,” the reoccurring theme of this show is that the head of companies go undercover to work within their companies to see how they are running. The great part of this show is seeing how people interact with an individual that they have no clue is the head of their company. There are instances in every episode of workers making fools of themselves because they have no idea that they are secretly working with their boss. They would never act this way or say what they did if they knew that they were standing in the presence of their boss. This is how I look at what the religious leaders of Jesus time did when they made accusations against Jesus, they had no idea who was standing before them. They are accusing God Himself, the one whom they are supposed to be serving and following, of being their enemy. In verse 28 of Matthew 12, Jesus tells them that if He had the power to speak to these spirits and they obey then they need to recognize that the Kingdom of God has come upon them.
They didn’t recognize that their “Boss” was standing before them, and they were making a fool of themselves. The difference between the undercover boss and Jesus is that He was not trying hide his identity, He went around letting everyone know who he was. When people needed freedom from spiritual oppression, he openly freed them, when they asked for healing, He is willing healed them, when they were hungry and there was no food, He miraculously provided for them. When John the Baptist sent his followers to Jesus to ask Him if he was the Messiah, (Luke 7:18-23) Jesus answers them by saying simply go and tell John what you have seen me do and this will let Him know exactly who I am. The actions of Jesus let you know that He was special, that He had supernatural authority, and that He was the One. The Kingdom of God had come to the earth, the boss was standing before them, and they did not even recognize Him because He did not look the way they thought He should look. He did not speak the way they thought He should speak, and He did not honor them the way they thought they should be honored so they missed the Kingdom of God. Do not make the same mistake they did, do not miss out on the Kingdom of God because it does not fit the stereotypes that past generations have feed you. Open your eyes, see who Jesus is and what He is doing, and you will see the Kingdom of God.
