Eighth Judicial District Court Judge Erika Ballou is under attack from the Las Vegas Police Union after simply telling the truth. Here’s what she said:

“You’re a Black man in America, you know you don’t want to be nowhere where cops are… You listen to me, you know you don’t want to be nowhere where cops are. Because I know I don’t, and I’m a middle-aged, middle-class Black woman. I don’t want to be around where the cops are because I don’t know if I’m going to walk away alive or not.”

Now, you may not like to hear it, but is it true? Well, as we all know, the facts show that nobody Black is safe around the cops. She was talking to the defendant and acknowledging reality while trying to give him advice. He would have been totally turned off if Ballou, like other judges, tried selling him a bill of goods full of YT mythology. She was talking about reality, and if the police don’t like that we feel like that, they should change what they do. Of course, that’s not an option. They don’t want the truth. They don’t want to change. They just want to oppress us and tell us how to respond to their oppression. And according to them, nobody who speaks the truth about them should have a position of power. They need to do like Jesus said and take the biased plank out of their eye before worrying about anyone else’s bias. We’ll wait.
