Timelapse Shows Mauna Loa Eruption in Hawaii
Lava flow was recorded from Hawaii’s Mauna Loa overnight into Monday, November 28, as eruptions continued.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) released this timelapse footage and said it was filmed on the north rim of Mokuʻaweoweo, the summit caldera of the volcano.
In an update, USGS said lava was overflowing from the caldera but was not threatening populated areas.
Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano on earth, according to the USGS. It has erupted 33 times since the first recorded eruption in 1843.
