At the Movies w/ Robert & Alex: The Last Starfighter

It's that time of year where Alex & I meet up to hang out. And this year we've got a few At the Movie reviews in the can! Starting with the Last Starfighter!

This movie was one of the earliest to use CGI on such a grand scale and...it surprisingly holds up 90% of the time (The effects popping not withstanding) and is highly recommended to watch for some good dumb fun! The script is weak but the actors carry it and make up for it!

After finally achieving the high score on Starfighter, his favorite arcade game, everyday teenager Alex Rogan meets the game's designer, Centauri -- who reveals that he created Starfighter as a training ground for developing and recruiting actual pilots to help fight a war in space. Whisked away from the banality of his trailer park life to a distant alien planet, Alex struggles to use his video game-playing skills to pilot a real ship, with real lives at stake.
