Pirate Radio & The Marine Offences Act Anniversary

This pirate radio celebration day commemorates August 14th, which was the day that the Marine Broadcasting Offences Act came into force in 1967 and effectively took all the pirates off the air.

The exception was Radio Caroline which carried on until 1990 when the MV Ross Revenge was grounded on the Goodwin Sands. And that was pretty much the end of pirate radio at sea.

MV Ross Revenge is still doing some stuff with Caroline and we're very pleased. Our radio station is called Radio Mi Amigo, which celebrates the offshore days. The Radio Caroline second ship is called Mi Amigo.

There were Dutch and Belgian radio stations called Radio Mi Amigo and we're celebrating that.
