Aliens are Coming! WE ARE NOT Prepared for Them?

A strange signal is detected. Days later, a ship is spotted coming towards our planet. It moves in ways that seem to defy physics. The world’s scientists are baffled. The media begins eating the story up, memes are created, and theories swirl. The military gets involved too late and admits it had no idea what was going on. People start panicking, running to grocery stores, and buying up all the toilet paper and canned goods. Religions scramble to formulate theological explanations. Then, as suddenly as it appeared, the ship is gone, leaving humanity with more questions than answers.

Will this be the scenario if and when we discover that life does in fact exist outside of our own planet? Will they come in peace? Or will they come with laser weapons and bad intentions? Will they come at all?
