PM not addressing Hamilton West's Cost of Living for the Current Voters in the By-election
Response to the Prime Minister’s Crime Prevention Package.
Hamilton West By-election Candidate for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party repeats his earlier comments:
Wakeman is of the view that social fabric in New Zealand is disintegrating at an ever-increasing rate. Whether it's from alcohol and/or drugs and/or extreme poverty with so many people under stress that contributes to bad behaviour. This is not a satisfactory environment to raise children in. This applies to both the parents and/or guardians and the children which can have adverse effects to other members of the community. The income levels whether it's wages or benefits are insufficient for survival. Yet the cost of incarcerating people in prison can exceed $100,000 per year per inmate. Putting people in prison does not always solve the problem, especially when children do not have parents or guardians to assist in developing good behavioural skills. To address that, people need affordable housing and to be able to financially meet their living and social needs. I view the model of the government reliance on housing to be failing to filling the needs of people for example, housing that is supplied with meals and activities with social support.
Especially the need for emergency accommodation. I would consider this more desirable than the current model. Providing an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff is the most expensive policy that we have. In short it is not currently a great environment for children to grow up in and be exposed to. With regard to behaviour, people who do not respect other people's boundaries could be caused from being exposed to such behaviour while growing up and not being aware of their anti-social behaviour. I believe with many hundreds of thousands of alcoholics within New Zealand and the people who have other drug issues like methamphetamine (P) cuts across the whole community whether they take it or not.
Workshops for youth that support better behavioural skills which include: Free youth activities with clothing, footwear and food to help cope with the ever-increasing housing and living costs. With marijuana in the community not being legalised it sends a bad message to youth that breaking the law is okay, by legalising it the law would then mean a lot more. Policing little things sends a message to prevent bigger law breakers. I believe that people need affordable housing and to be able to financially meet their living and social needs. I view the model of the government reliance on housing to be failing to filling the needs of people for example, housing that is supplied with meals and activities with social support.
Addressing ram raids with cameras is not solving the problem. Children and teens have to be interested in school and the Italian model of giving people qualifications e.g., a chef prior to leaving school is qualified without getting into student debt is beneficial to everyone in the community. The Prime Minister needs to address our social disintegration now and I believe her announcement today on the 28th of November 2022 has failed to do that.
