Brittney Griner is a star basketball player who is playing in phoenix mercury for WNBA. she had talent and passion for basketball from childhood which made her win many tournaments and get selected for the phoenix basketball team. She won the WNBA championship, Olympic gold medal, and many more basketball tournaments. She went to Russia to play her tournament for UMMC Ekaterinburg. She got arrested at the airport for carrying cannabis oil. After detaining her for several months, a Russian court sentenced her to nine years of jail on August 4, 2022.

If we talk about Paul Whelan, he is a former US marine corps born in Canada and has citizenship in four counties, including the USA, Canada, UK, and Ireland. He had been court-martial because of a larceny-related case. On December 28, 2018, he got accused of spying and was later sentenced to 16 years in jail.

Now the USA is offering a swap of victor bout, a Russian arms dealer to Russia, for Brittney Griner and paul Whelan. Victor has a long criminal history and was selling weapons to many terrorist organizations.
