'76 is a band formed conceptually to entertain and inspire.  The comfortably familiar style of music encompasses Rock, Punk, Country and Metal themes, while the vocals utilize metaphor, imagery and humor lyrically to express discontent and open eyes to the current socio-political atmosphere.
Drew Hieber and Christopher Lee Simmonds form the core of '76, with Hieber being the primary singer/songwriter and Simmonds as the Producer/Arranger. They both began their musical careers in similar periods as teenagers in 1986, the prior in Pittsburgh, PA and the former in Battle Creek, MI and followed similar though separate paths thru education, touring and songwriting.
The duo met in the fall of 2012, when Simmonds was a sound engineer/producer in a club that Hieber owned.  When a vacancy opened in the band Gods and Aliens, where Hieber was lead singer,  Simmonds stepped in to fill the gap.  The magic was immediately apparent and the two wrote, recorded and released the debut Gods and Aliens album, Alpha Charlie Echo in 2013. After some limited success, the band began to fall apart and in the summer of 2016, Hieber and Simmonds decided to move on to other projects, but kept in touch and bounced various musical ideas back and forth.
In the winter of 2019, the pair decided it was time to write some new music and began to record at Simmonds studio, writing and recording 30+ songs and in 2020 released 12 new Gods and Aliens singles, including Pandemic and Strains which were written as a wake up call to the masses.
In early 2022 Simmonds recorded a solo album titled 'Love More, Hate Less'. An album aimed squarely at winning the American culture war. During this time Hieber was also getting back to his roots and writing punk/folk protest songs, expressing his displeasure with the current state of America. Once Simmonds released his solo album, Hieber presented some of  his demos and an agreement was reached to produce them. The band '76 was formed and recording began.
These songs feature Hieber's unique vocal style and straight ahead song writing, along with Simmonds' luscious guitar arrangements, aggressive instrumentation and clean production to create no holds barred, patriotic American rock songs intended to wake up the sleeping, to entertain and to provoke thought as well as to make the listener smile a little in these dark and trying times.
