S03E03 Becker's Easy Eats: Easy Nasi Goreng

Nasi Goreng simply means fried rice. It is an Indonesian dish well-loved by many all over the world because it is very easy to prepare, very flexible in ingredients and simply delicious. You can use chicken (as in my case), any left over meats, shrimps or nothing at all! Most important is the use of kecap manis and fish sauce (sometimes shrimp paste too) which gives nasi goreng its distinctive flavors!

EASY NASI GORENG

Ingredients
500 g cooked rice (cooled overnight, long grain jasmine rice prefered)
100 g chicken breast meat (or chicken oyster)
4-5 cloves garlic
6-8 bulbs shallots
1 ½ tbsp chili sauce
1 pc red pepper (seeds removed)
2 tbsp cooking oil for sambal paste
3 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sance)
2 tbsp fish sauce
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

Suggested Sides:
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced or pickled cucumber
Prawn crackers (krupuk)
Crispy fried egg
Anchovies sambal with peanuts
