The Swedish title of the popular novel is "Men Who Hate Women," and the group explores Stieg's motivation for focusing on the topic of violence against women, including Sweden's unique historical struggle with the issue as well as modern exacerbation stemming from Muslim immigration. They also explore the unlikely romance between the two main characters, reaching a general consensus that Larsson self-identified with Blomkvist.
