St. Catherine was a princess who was very learned in philosophy and the sciences. She went personally to Emperor Maxentius to convince him to stop killing Christians. Maxentius gathered many wise men to engage on a debate with her. She won and converted those men. Enraged, Maxentius had her tortured on a spiked wheel. But the wheel broke, so she was beheaded. She is the patron of Scholars, Lawyers, Librarians, Philosophers, Students, Teachers.
