I asked an investor to invest in my business plan and the investor said no. What should I do?

Good question.

A lot of times investors may have good reasons for telling you this and it might be legitimate. The other possibility is you presented the information in the wrong way. Finally, another possibility is the investor simply did not like you and used that as an excuse on why they would not invest.

It is good to do a few excel spreadsheet or google sheet models to just check that your business works. Writing a one page plan is worthwhile so you can send the plan to people. Writing big long full and proper business plans is a waste of time.

People like to write business plans since it is less frightening for them than actually sitting across the table from an investor and asking them to invest. But the best 100 page business plan against the 1 page plan with 10 qualified investors that you sit down with at a table you will quickly see why 1 page business plans are better than 100 page plans.

The investors know right away usually if they will invest in you and are only looking at the business plan a bit to get some idea of what you are wanting to do. Don’t waste time writing a lot of plans. Put a one page plan together and move forward taking action to complete tasks.

I hope that helps and good luck with your investing!
