Positive and negative emotions are all a part of who we are; some just require more help than others. We may manage bad emotions without fear or shame by developing a skill set for noticing and managing the physicality of our sentiments.
Too frequently, we get mired in our thoughts and rely solely on our minds to guide us through life. A more all-encompassing perspective on life, one that takes into account the mind, heart, body, and spirit, gives us the power to communicate with all of the components of ourselves and shape our own reality.
-Sit in awareness of this sensation and the area of your body it is in; take note of the colour, texture, and shape.
- By giving this emotion your whole attention, you are letting your feelings know that you are prepared to deal with them totally. This is not a terrified strategy; it is a loving strategy.
- When you are ready to release a feeling, let it know. You can do this by thinking a thought or an affirmation, practising yoga or meditation, sketching it out, or writing it down.
