Welcome to the Vintage Christmas Lights UK YouTube Channel.

Apologies for the lack of content, I will endeavour to give you more content, I hope you enjoyed this new video!

I managed to buy a few sets of American Christmas Lights the last few months, all of them are C7 sets of 25, 15 and 7.

They run off 115v so they are incompatible for the UK supply of 240v.

I tried out this questionable adapter just to test the lights until a permanent solution could be devised.

Stay subscribed so we can keep you informed on how to use American lights in the UK.

A little 'light' history.

The early 90's were the end for 'classic' style light sets, new manufacturing and safety laws saw the delicate thinner cables replaced with thick and bulky black cables for 240v lights, making the lights look cumbersome and chunky, NOMA still produce some 'classic' sets of lights identical to the late 80's lights but with this nasty new cable.

Over the years, these lights have been replaced with characterless shadeless sets of lights, then eventually LED lights.

We do hope that one of these older firms like PIFCO or NOMA bring back the classic style lights, perhaps in low voltage LED form in the old style sets of 20 and 40 and possibly 60-100 too with the old style shades, a mix and match option would be brilliant.

What do you think ?

Don't get me wrong, there are some modern lights I do like, and I will try to do some videos about them.
