UN peacekeeping mission
On 25 November 1973, for the first time at official level, a group of Soviet soldiers was included in a UN peacekeeping mission in the Middle East. In the following years, the Soviet Union and then Russia took part in dozens of similar operations around the world.
The task of peacekeepers is to prevent and eliminate threats to the security of civilians in regions of armed conflict. Russian peacekeepers are successfully doing their job!
