In 2011 the grand conjunction occurred and all nine planets in the solar system lined up. This only happens approximately every 2500 years and the iron filings in the earths sediments corroborate this. Just last year the USGS sent out a team or teams to go to fresh lava flows to take samples of the iron, and it is pointing the opposite direction. this explains everything.
