A lake-effect blizzard continues across western and upstate New York, including Buffalo.
Snow warnings have been issued on the east and northeast sides of Lakes Erie and Ontario, including the cities of Buffalo and Watertown.
Since Thursday evening, the rate of snowfall near lakes Erie and Ontario has been up to 8 cm per hour.
About 80 cm of snow has already fallen in Hamburg, where many cars were stuck on Friday morning due to snowy roads.
The administration has canceled Friday classes for students in Buffalo and the entire district.
Numerous flights to and from Buffalo-Niagara International Airport have been cancelled.
The NFL also announced that it will move the Buffalo Bills' home game against the Cleveland Browns to Detroit on Sunday.
The weather service warned of snow accumulation over 60 cm in the upstate on the eastern edge of Lake Ontario and in parts of northern Michigan.
The state governor has declared a state of emergency in the Buffalo and Watertown areas due to the expected amount of snow.
