Welcome to the Vintage Christmas Lights UK YouTube Channel.

Apologies for the lack of content, I will endeavour to give you more content, I hope you enjoyed this new video!

This video was originally uploaded on 14 Nov 2018, but YouTube converted it to a short without letting me know, I was notified by a new subscriber that you could not see any up close details on a PC.

Rather than deleting the short, I have re-converted it to a full screen video and I have put this version back up.

A quick demonstration of the Music played by the Seasons International Musical Bell Lights, the song played is Silent Night.

These lights were sold in the late 80's and by the early to mid 90's they were sold in Woolworths as their own brand of lights and they are identical to this set, they also sold the Spare Bulbs in Woolworths branding too, the spares are super rare now.

This set of 10 bells are arranged on two separate strings that come out of the control box with 5 bells on each string, they can be used with no volume so the lights dance in silence, or the volume can be turned on and adjusted.

If you have any extra information on these lights or have any memories of them, please share them below.

A little 'light' history.

The early 90's were the end for 'classic' style light sets, new manufacturing and safety laws saw the delicate thinner cables replaced with thick and bulky black cables for 240v lights, making the lights look cumbersome and chunky, NOMA still produce some 'classic' sets of lights identical to the late 80's lights but with this nasty new cable.

Over the years, these lights have been replaced with characterless shadeless sets of lights, then eventually LED lights.

We do hope that one of these older firms like PIFCO or NOMA bring back the classic style lights, perhaps in low voltage LED form in the old style sets of 20 and 40 and possibly 60-100 too with the old style shades, a mix and match option would be brilliant.

What do you think ?

Don't get me wrong, there are some modern lights I do like, and I will try to do some videos about them.
