S03E08 Becker's Easy Eats: Easy Croque Monsieur

Croque Monsieur is a hot sandwich made with ham and cheese, either baked in the oven or pan fried in a pan. Originating from French cafes in the 1960's, it has evolved into various versions in different countries.

The version I am making today includes mornay sauce (béchamel sauce with cheese added) and gives sandwich that extra luxury.

EASY CROQUE MONSIEUR

Ingredients:
4 pcs white bread
4 slices Emmental cheese
4 slices cooked ham
Melted butter for brushing

For Mornay Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
½ cup milk
¼ cup shredded cheese
Pinch of nutmeg

Optional: I egg (fried or poached) to top the sandwich
