Now a ghost town and museum, Castle Dome City was once a thriving town, larger than Yuma in 1878. Established in 1864, Castle Dome was a mining town. Once a major producer of silver from 1862 to 1978. The silver market dropped causing mining silver as a non-profitable business. Today the weathered buildings haven't changed much since the 1800's. There are 5-saloons, a school, bank, jail and much more within 50 buildings. There were once 360 mines with 15-miles of underground passageways. In 1882, there were 17 students enrolled in the little school.
