Do you pray to get to know God, or get things from god

If god knows what you want before you ask was the redundancy in having pray about it?

God wants a relationship.
He didnt just make us to watch us like weirdo, or someone looking at their fish in an aquarium. He didn’t just make us to just to be an absentee father who sends the child support check, but never checks in or cares what we are up to, god cares maybe too much what we are up to, that it annoys atheist how much he cares about what we do in private
If god is out father
Most parents are ok with feeding their kids so they dont go to jail, but they probably they look more forward to have a few mintues to interact and talk with their kids not just be a waiter or waitress or a touch screen at fast food restaurant screen to them,
While theyre getting their food ready
the parents are also trying to get to know their kids, the inbetween moments
just to hear how their kids put words together or liking their sound of their voice or their facial expressions
Probably rarely is the child going to tell the parent something the parent doesn’t already know, but the parent isnt gets enjoyment not from the exchange of knowledge but just the exchange itself

Other part prayer is you’re getting to know god as well because you learn about hin just like if you were going in for a sale youd want to knwo what the person is like before you ask for the sale what bothers them so you avoid that like michael scott wrote things om his note cards dont ask this clients ex wife, so you wouldn’t ask god about the devil before you ask,
you would learn god wants obedience not sacrafice prevention of sin is better than trying to do extra chores to clean up for it
God doesnt want you to pray for luxury things, god is ok with praying for the sick, for your daily bread, to pray for forgiveness.
God wants you to pray without ceasing that means all day you’re trying to talk and hear from god but say you dont everhear audibly back what he says you to figure out what he would say based on how he comes across in scripture, no different than thinking what would harry potter say in this situation. If god is real you’re doing what you can to try and get to know him, by avoiding what he told others to he doesnt like and trying to do & say what he told others he likes.
If god is nor real, you just have an elborate imaginary friend what you have lost, when you die you won’t remember anything and at worst you would passed along this imaginary friend who always told you to treat others with kindness gentless they way you would others to treat you to your kids
