However, the whereabouts of Mbah Denok are now no longer real. Only one site or punden is in the Sumber Karangan complex, which is managed by PDAM Malang City.
It is about 100 meters from the mouth of the spring management building. Standing a tall slender white banyan tree. Not far next to him grew a gambiran tree, its size reversed, growing big to mark its age. The local community and the custodians of the springs respect the punden or Mbah Denok site very much.
Even PDAM Malang City as the manager fenced it off to separate it from other complex areas. So that there appears to be special treatment for these areas.
"This punden Mbah Denok. He is trusted and believed to be the one who discussed the essays here," said Rifa'i (45), a spring guard.
Residents believe that under the white banyan tree until now it has not grown big, it is Mbah Denok's tomb. Rifa'i is recorded as a PDAM Malang worker who encounters many strange things in the punden which is estimated to be hundreds of years old.
Indeed, in plain view, within the gated punden complex, only a banyan tree stands without any unique buildings or tombs. "We don't dare mess around here," he said.
Rifa'i guards the springs complex with his colleague Bambang (40), both of whom are local residents. For 24 hours, they both spent time in the area. "Many sightings and we can only remain silent," said Rifa'i.
The image of an old woman walking back and forth is often encountered by Rifa'i and his colleague Bambang. In fact, one night the two of them saw the woman bathing in a spring.
"My friend Bambang was running scared. It was the middle of the night, we heard people taking a bath," he said.
Bambang does not deny that there have been many strange incidents while guarding the spring complex. However, he admitted that the presence of the astral creature had never disturbed him. "It just doesn't seem to bother me," he explained.
Bambang does not have many references regarding the true figure of Mbah Denok. But from generation to generation it has been said that Mbah Denok was the first to open the area.
