A merchant and his wise donkey

This is a story about a merchant and his donkey. On a fine spring morning, a merchant loaded his donkey with sacks of salt to go to the market and sell the salt. The merchant and his donkey walked together.
They hadn't gone far when they came to a river on the way. Unfortunately, the donkey slipped and fell into the river. As he climbed along the river bank, he noticed that the bags of salt on his back were lighter. The merchant had no choice but to return home, where he loaded his donkey with more sacks of salt. When they reached the slippery river bank again, this time the donkey fell into the river on purpose. So the salt was wasted again. At this point, the merchant already knew the donkey's trick. He wanted to teach the animal a lesson. The second time he came home on the donkey, the merchant loaded sacks of sponges on his back. The duo traveled to the market for the third time. Arriving at the river, the donkey very skillfully fell back into the water. But now the burden is not lighter, it has become heavier.
The merchant laughed at the donkey and said, "Stupid donkey, your trick has been revealed. You should know that you can't fool anyone too often."

The moral of this story was told by the great Abraham Lincoln. “You can fool, some people all of the time and all people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.“
