The Bible is clear that women are not to exert authority over men. However, the SBC has been muddling the waters when it comes to various roles of authority in the church for years. Where Paul would've been clearly teaching that the men who are to have authority in the church are the elders and that no woman could be an elder, the SBC has tried to get around this by having women lead in various other ways. These various offices do not share the title of elder, but often share many of the responsibilities of an elder.

By doing this for decades, the SBC has confused congregations and taught them that it is actually ok for women to exert authority over men in the church as long as they don't technically carry the title of elder. #shorts #christianity
