Moscow hits out at Western hypocrisy at the UN Security Council in response to an emergency meeting over Russian strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. (1 below) Fragments of a Russian missile were found on a residential building, as Russia continues to avoid hitting civilian homes. (QueenStreet comment: There are few days when Ukraine forces have not deliberately fired on civilian only property, including villages, towns and city centres and killed/injured civilians. Not on this morning's news for instance - as all information is not yet gathered but, via the RT website: The Ukrainian military targeted residential areas of Donetsk with heavy artillery late on Wednesday, with the shells reportedly striking multiple districts of the city. At least ten 155mm shells were fired from the Ukrainian-controlled outskirts of the city around 11:30 pm, according to local observers. A RIA Novosti correspondent confirmed hearing three separate blasts in different areas of Donetsk. Footage recorded by eyewitnesses captured the sound of explosions, while pictures from the scene shared on social media showed several houses and vehicles damaged during the late-evening attack. So far, no information on potential casualties among civilians has emerged (2 below)).

The European Parliament's 'terrorism sponsor' resolution against Russia doesn't get complete approval among EU lawmakers with some MEP's condemning the move. Missile strikes target Ukrainian military logistics amid NATO’s “proxy war” on Moscow, the Russian envoy tells the UN

The Russian military is using precision weapons against Ukraine’s infrastructure to disrupt the flow of weapons the US and its allies are funnelling to Kiev with the aim of prolonging the conflict, Moscow’s envoy to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said on Wednesday.

Addressing an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council, called over the collapse of the power grid in Ukraine and Moldova, Nebenzia said the Russian missile strikes are aimed at disrupting the delivery of weapons and supplies from the West to Ukrainian troops on the front, through which NATO is conducting “a proxy war against Russia.”

Moscow is not targeting civilian residences, Nebenzia said, claiming that the regrettable damage to residential areas is often caused by Ukrainian air defences deployed in populated areas.

“As a result, missile debris or Ukrainian rockets that have gone astray hit objects that Russia did not even aim at,” he said, pointing to the photos shared on Wednesday by Ukrainians themselves, allegedly showing fragments of US-supplied rockets found in their damaged homes in Kiev and nearby Vyshgorod.

During the Russian Armed Forces' missile strike on energy facilities in Kiev, some of the debris fell on a residential building. Ukrainian media traditionally blamed Russia for the attack on civilian infrastructure, but the pictures from the site of the incident contain some very curious details.

For example, in one of the photos you can see a piece of debris with the word "LIFT" written in Latin. As our German colleagues from the @Ubersicht_Ukraine_Kanal channel note, the marking is fully identical to that on the engine of the AIM-120 missile. Which, in turn, are part of the ammunition of NASAMS 2 supplied to Ukraine

So the residents of Kiev can once again "thank" the Ukrainian air defence system (and now the American military-industrial complex) for the destruction of the residential infrastructure of the city.

“Your reckless flow of weapons to Ukraine has caused these deaths,” he told the Western envoys at the Security Council.

Nebenzia also noted the “hysterical and fully mendacious” statements coming from Kiev about the November 15 incident in Poland, when a Ukrainian S-300 missile killed two villagers in Przewodow. Yet Western and even UN officials continue to uncritically repeat Ukrainian allegations, without evidence, he said.

One of Moscow’s objectives is to degrade the threat the Ukrainian military poses to Russia, and it will be pursued until Kiev adopts a more reasonable position, rather than the current language of threats and ultimatums, Nebenzia said.

Wednesday’s meeting featured a video statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky accusing Russia of being a “terrorist state,” to which Nebenzia objected as violating the Security Council protocols on personal presence.

Zelensky was followed by US ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of “clearly, clearly weaponizing winter” and trying to “freeze [Ukraine] into submission.” The US will continue to stand with Ukraine “for long as it takes,” added Thomas-Greenfield, as Kiev fights to “defend its freedom, its sovereignty and its democracy.”

The Russian envoy also pointed out that the UN has looked the other way while Ukraine shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and even tried to blame Moscow for it. Russian troops have controlled the plant since February 28. In June, Ukrainian forces began launching drone and artillery attacks on the facility, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

United Nations Under-Secretary General Rosemary DiCarlo on Wednesday once again expressed “deep concern” about recent “reckless and deplorable” shelling of the ZNPP, without naming the party responsible.

The attack followed a series of smaller artillery strikes earlier in the day, and came shortly before the extraordinary session of the UN Security Council, during which Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky accused Russia of being a “terrorist state” for targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The city of Donetsk has been subjected to artillery and missile attacks by the Ukrainian forces on an almost daily basis since February amid the ongoing conflict, following years of sporadic shelling after the 2014 coup in Kiev. While rarely commenting on such activities, Kiev usually accuses Russian forces, which are in control of the city, of having shelled it themselves.

Donetsk, the capital city of its namesake republic, recently joined Russia along with three other formerly Ukrainian regions, following referendums held in late September. Kiev, as well as its Western backers, have rejected the referendums as “sham” polls, and continue to view the territories as parts of Ukraine.
