Youth and Professionalism: Anatoly Ishchenko, commander of an anti-aircraft missile platoon, told why he was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation

◽️ During a special military operation, Lieutenant Anatoly Ishchenko seized air targets and fired missiles from a portable anti-aircraft missile system.

◽️ Covering Russian troop sites from enemy air attack, Anatoly attacked a pair of enemy Su-25s that appeared in his area of responsibility.

◽️ The first MANPAD shot resulted in a direct hit from Anatoliy Ishchenko shooting down the aircraft. The pilot of the second aircraft, fearing being hit, stopped the attack and left the controlled airspace.

◽️ The officer also, while holding a battalion-tactical group of Russian troops at a strategic point, spotted an enemy Su-25 aircraft in the sky and destroyed it with an accurate shot from a portable anti-aircraft missile system.

◽️ A few days later, Anatoly spotted another pair of enemy Su-25s. The officer reacted swiftly to the aerial targets and hit both attack aircraft with shots from a portable anti-aircraft missile system.

◽One of the pilots ejected and landed in territory controlled by the Russian Armed Forces. The pilot was captured and taken to the regiment's command post. From the captive, important information about enemy tactical aviation bases and helicopter parking areas was obtained.

◽In all, during the period of combat operations Lieutenant Ishchenko's platoon destroyed 12 enemy Su-25 planes and four Mi-8 helicopters, of which the officer personally destroyed five planes and three helicopters.

According to the hero himself, this award is common, for all the merits of the platoon's men.
