NEW THREAT: Russian WINTER CAMPAIGN REVEALED | War in Ukraine Explained
I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the two hundred and seventy third day of the war.
Day 273: November 23
Today there was another massive missile strike that caused a shutdown of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, and in this video, I will tell you not only about what happened but also why it puts in danger all the victories that the Ukrainians worked so hard to achieve.
Today’s morning started with the launch of 70 cruise missiles and a number of drones on Ukrainian territory. The rockets were once again launched from the Black Sea, Astrakhan, and Bryansk regions, and their main targets once again became energy facilities. Ukrainian General Staff reported that the air defense system shot down 51 rockets and 5 drones, but this still means that a lot of them reached their predetermined destination.
In the Kyiv and Vinnytsia regions, the Russians damaged three Thermal Power Plants. The ones located in Kyiv were previously hit in October, and as a result of today’s strike, the left bank of Kyiv suffered a complete blackout.
In the Rivne and Mykolaiv regions, the Russians struck substations. This caused an emergency shutdown of the last three Ukrainian-controlled Nuclear Power Plants. So, the strike set off emergency protection, which cut off all power units. Right now, the reactors are working, but they are not generating electricity.
In the long run, the situation looks catastrophic. As you can see, the Russians are conducting these strikes every two or three weeks. And this is actually a very smart decision on their part because it takes exactly around three weeks to repair the damaged infrastructure and stabilize the energy system, finding a new equilibrium. Such a frequency gradually destroys and breaks the united system apart. Already after the previous strike, President Zelensky said that up to 40% of the Ukrainian energy system is destroyed, so after this strike, it is probably around 50%. If the current trend continues, then already in December, the damage will be above 50%, which according to many analysts, is the point from which the system will collapse into separate autonomous units. By mid-winter, Ukrainian people will live more like in the stone age rather than in a European country.
But this is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that the Russians will finish all their mobilization procedures and will be ready to conduct another offensive operation or open another front exactly when Ukraine will be the most vulnerable and unable to regroup and supply itself quickly. And the most vulnerable part of Ukrainian energy system is eastern Ukraine. And one of our army generals has already made a warning about a suspiciously high concentration of Russian troops near Sumy and Zaporizhzhia. He said that one of the possible developments is an attempt to slice Ukraine in half, which in the case of a blackout, does not seem impossible.
There are only two things that can reverse the trend.
Firstly, the Russians may run out of missiles. At this point, even I got tired of waiting for that. As you can see, the Russians still have hundreds of missiles left, which means that theoretically, they can afford to conduct plenty of them in the near future. Even the Institute for the Study of War concluded that the depletion of the arsenal of high-precision missiles will likely still allow attacking Ukrainian critical infrastructure in the near term.
This leads us to the second point. The trend can be reversed if Ukraine gets more air defense systems. And it seems like it is exactly what Ukraine is trying to do. Today, President Zelensky requested an urgent meeting of the U.N. Security Council over Russia strikes, and it was already scheduled to happen today. As the blackouts were also caused in Moldova because the energy is being supplied through Ukraine, secure air is not just a national but international priority. Hopefully, as a result of this meeting, Ukraine will get more air defense systems. Otherwise, Ukraine will become extremely vulnerable exactly when the Russians become ready to launch their next offensive operation.
