The giant panda is one of the most adored creatures in the world and is a native of the mountain forests of southwest China.

Black and white coloring distinguishes giant pandas from other species. They have white bodies with black shoulders, eyes, ears, muzzles, and legs.

The panda's projecting wrist bone that functions as a thumb is one of its intriguing evolutionary characteristics. This aids in holding bamboo for the pandas to chew on with their powerful molar teeth. The panda's diet consists almost entirely of bamboo. Pandas need to consume 10–20 kg (20–40 lb) of food each day due to the low nutritious content of bamboo.

Occasionally, pandas will consume additional food that is available, such as tiny rodents, eggs, fish, and other flora. Pandas need to daily replace the good amount of water that bamboo offers with fresh water.
